Transitional tips to take your wardrobe from winter to spring

It’s that awkward time of year again. Technically it’s still winter but spring is approaching which means our climate often offers us four seasons in one day. The mornings are usually icy but by lunchtime, the sun is shining, which suddenly makes all those extra layers seem unnecessary. Dressing for that in-between the seasons time requires a little extra creativity, something which many of us don’t have much time for in the morning. So with that in mind, to lend a helping hand, we have shared our not-so-secret tips to help you effortlessly take your wardrobe from winter to spring.

  1. Layer your look

With unexpected dips and rises in the temperature, layers should be your go-to when in limbo between seasons. One of the key features of the Ariana winter collection is that several of our pieces are interchangeable, which also makes them perfect for layering. Wearing a dress or skirt and top combo affords you the opportunity to add lightweight knitwear to your look. Then, if the temperature rises, remove a layer as needed.

2. Introduce colour

The winter months often see us donning a more subdued colour palette of clothing, so with spring just around the corner, now is the perfect time to reintroduce a little colour into your life. And you don’t have to dress from head-to-toe in bold brights to achieve this look. Pairing one brighter piece with a neutral colour such as black, navy or grey carefully nods to the new season, without going overboard. Or, choose a print with a darker background, interspersed with careful pops of colour to effortlessly glide into spring.

3. Bare a little if you dare

While you might not be ready to ditch the tights completely, that doesn’t mean you can’t begin to show a little skin. Three-quarter length sleeves and deep V-necklines are an easy way to state your spring intentions.

4. Trade in your coat

There’s no doubt that you’ll need a protective layer to keep the elements at bay but ditching the coat in favour of a lightweight jacket will effortlessly allow you to embrace spring. Slip into something a little lighter and avoid darker tones to take you there even quicker.

5. Say it with skirts

Ditch the trousers in favour of skirts! A-line and fitted skirts are the perfect transitional piece. Wear with opaque tights now and a knitted top, which is easily replaced by a silk t-shirt for spring.

6. Amp up your look with accessories

If you can’t fully commit your clothing to spring, say it with accessories instead. Whether it’s a statement necklace in bold brights, or switching your darker handbag to a tote in a brighter hue, allow your accessories to be your spring token. And you don’t need to get rid of your trusty ankle boots either. Their versatility means they work whatever the weather, and we think they look great with bare legs too!

So to carefully embrace spring, without fully committing to it, don’t ditch your winter wardrobe just yet. With a few unique twists, it’s easy to see in the new season, in both style and comfort.
